Healthcare Assistants

Mrs Diane Jackson (f)
What is a Healthcare Assistant?
A Healthcare Assistant is someone who helps GPs and practice nurses look after patients and carers. They are an imprtant part of the practice team taking on some of the more routine tasks that used to be done by the GP or practice nurse.

What can a Healthcare Assistant do?
The range of tasks is different in each GP practice but you might find them checking your blood pressure, taking blood samples or doing new patient health checks. Many healthcare assistants now run their own booked clinics for these types of checks.
