About Us

New Premises

Our new practice was officially opened on 22 July 2005 by Dr Roger Neighbour, President of The Royal College of General Practitioners.

We started the feasibility study in 1997, found the site in 1999 and it has taken from February 2000 to March 2005 to achieve our dreams.

Features of the new building include:

The new building is designed for people with disabilities and has hearing loops in both waiting areas and at reception.

Self Check-In System

Patient self check-in touch screen - you can check
yourself in for your appointment at the touch screen
– no need to queue.

Visual call panel - your name will come up in red letters when it is your turn to be seen. IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR NAME IN LIGHTS OR YOU ARE VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND CANNOT SEE THE SCREEN – please let the receptionist know and she will arrange for the doctor to call you personally. We know that the screen cannot be seen from all the waiting room chairs, but you will be alerted to a change in the display by a beep.

Patient toilets with wall-mounted baby changing facilities. The toilets are fitted with automatic flushes and taps – no handles to turn or pull, just move your hand near the sensor.  This is to improve hygiene and infection control.

Courtyard Details

We have planted a Ginkgo Biloba, or Maidenhair tree.  It is a prehistoric tree and its extract is said to be good for the memory! – there is a 240 year old ginkgo growing in Kew Gardens.

The tree was provided through a bequest by Mr Thomas Duffy, who was a patient of the practice until his death in June 2001. He had a distinguished career.  We hope the tree will symbolically replace the magnolia tree which stands outside 177 Mauldeth Road.

Many thanks to the patients who have sent us cards and gifts on our move and to Mrs Maud Bradley and others for funding the purchase of the plants and pots.

We hope to have a plant in flower every month of the year!
